A BOLD Celebration of Design

  • 650 Marshall Avenue Saint Paul, MN, 55104 (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Event produced in collaboration with IIDA Northland, NOMAs & BOLD.

Walker West Music Academy is an 18,640-square-foot adaptive reuse project in St. Paul’s historic Rondo neighborhood, transforming a former adult day center into a new home for music education, performance, community gathering, and workplace functions.

Rooted in Walker West’s mission to celebrate Black musical traditions while welcoming all who seek to grow through music, the space supports students, teaching artists, staff, families, performers, and neighbors through classrooms, gathering areas, staff workspaces, and a performance hall designed for both everyday use and moments of celebration.

The project explores how interior design, architecture, materiality, art, signage, furniture, and cultural storytelling can support a nonprofit institution’s next chapter as a community anchor that cultivates the next generation of artists.

Gather with a creative community for self-guided tours, light refreshments & a panel discussion to hear the design story behind this vibrant home for music education, performance, community & culture.

Design in 7

hosted by the UMN College of Design

“Listen in as seven professionals from the fields of apparel design, architecture, graphic design, interior design, landscape architecture, product design, and retail share thought-provoking, inspiring, and often humorous tales from the design trenches.”

In a compelling journey of self-discovery and resilience, Ashley Adamma Ochiagha reflects on the dichotomy of external success and internal struggle. Fueled by a mantra that propelled her through professional exams and a diverse range of projects, she transitioned from the constraints of a full-time job to entrepreneurship. TEDx Salon: What is Truth?

TEDx Salon: What is Truth?

Q: What is truth?
A: A fact or belief that is accepted as true.

From the inner truths we’ve internalized to the outer truths we consume, we’re immersed in information that has been layered over time. They say the end of the information era is near, but what if individual re-calibration could change society’s trajectory?

Join TEDxMinneapolis and guest curator Ashley Ochiagha of FMYH.co for an evening of inward and outward discovery as we explore what the truth means to and for you.

Note: This event does not include live talks being given in Minneapolis. We will watch and discuss pre-recorded talks.
